CONFUSED ABOUT 'The server is not powerful enough to convert video'

Up until 2 days ago I was running my Plex Media Server as a Windows 10 application from my main disk drive and the library of movies, music and images were held on my Seagate NAS drive. I was able to play movies on my PC and from my Amazon Fire TV app but not from my iPad or my Android phone as I did not have a Plex Pass then....of course I had to keep my PC powered on to allow this.

After updates to the firmware on my Seagate NAS drive I was able to install the Plex Media Server on the NAS drive, which I did and pointed the new empty libraries to the locations on the NAS drive that I had used when running from Windows. The libraries all populated and everything appears OK. So I have uninstalled the Plex server that was installed to the Windows 10 main drive.

I can watch a movie, listen to music and see photos from my Amazon Fire TV. So connections to/from the NAS Plex server are working - I assume because it's Linux to Linux?

I now have a lifetime plex pass and expected to be able to watch movies from the iPad and Android phones - but cannot. I can listen to music and see the photos however. I assume that the movies issue is because it needs to convert from Linux (the Seagate NAS) to iOS for the iPad and whatever the Android phone uses?

I also realise that I am no longer able to watch movies from the PC that the NAS drive is connected to and I assume again that this is because it needs to transcode from Linux to Windows?

If my assumptions are correct is there a way around this? If not I appear to have wasted my money on the PlexPass?

seagate personal cloud 5tb plex app question

Hello , Totall newbie to servers got this as a Christmas present spent hours doing battle eventually managed to fathom out how to get some photos , some music onto the 5tb personal cloud , added apps including plex , it played up so I reinstalled it and this time it worked ok, however I was concerned about login on my device tried firefox and ie browsers firefox informed me the login was unsecure instead of green ok site safe padlock had red line , I found there was an update for plex but hadn't a clue how to update the app on the server itself, if I logged in to plex via the pc green padlock was there so I knew it was secure , why should the plex app which id installed on the Seagate login be unsafe youd think it would log in to safe secure link sorry for being thick but how do I fix this...I want my server to be secure obviously before I put personal stuff on it , can anyone kindly advise me how to firstly solve the login to plex issue and how to update to latest version of the plex app....my aim is to use plex in conjuction with amazon echo to play music around the house via voice search ....but until I get this sorted I cant get any further

Seagate personal Cloud 4TB model STCR40000101

New to Plex. Installed it on Seagate Personal Cloud, via manual, and it worked for ~ 2 weeks. When I enabled external access, it continued to crash. I did a factory reset of the NAS. Using the current build for Seagate, com.plex.plexmediaserver-1.10.1.4602-f54242b6b-armv7 (1).rbw.

Server software installs, but continues to return the "A problem has been detected with a core component of Plex Media Server"

I have attached the server logs. Any help.

Cannot open rbw file that is an update from plex

I don't have the program to open a rbw file that plex sent as an update. I need to know how to open it and what program I need to open it with. If you don't have a correct answer, do not apply an off the wall commentary about not knowing anything about this subject.

Running out of storage. Can I use two portable hard drives and assign the same drive letter?

Greetings! I have a seagate 8TB portable hard drive. With tons of tv, some music, and 1300 movies, I am running out of storage. Can I buy a second 8tb hard drive and just assign the same letter? Or, if I choose to name it another drive letter, can Plex recognize two different hard drives? Thanks in advance. :)

Plex not working on Seagate D2 NAS business drive

Hey.
Just installed Plex, I can access it from local network, can login but struggle with two setting problems:
1) When trying to access Settings -> Server, i get this: http://prntscr.com/i3mwuy
2) When trying to add a folder within NAS with photos, i get this when pressing "Add library": http://prntscr.com/i3mxi4 (obviously I have added appropriate folder from NAS with photos in it)

Attached is debug log, if that helps.

Continual, Intermediate Server Unavailable Messages on PC and NAS

I have some media files on my PC, but my Seagate NAS is my dedicated server. Sometimes one is reachable, and the other isn't. If I restart my router and NAS everything starts working again, but it's usually short lived. Within the next few days, again Plex isn't able to pull up any server. However, the Seagate Media App works and pulls up all the videos fine. I usually access the Plex apps on my Roku TV's.

I have my Personal Cloud (3TB) set up.
Plex is running.
Have about 30 vids on there so far...

Plays fine on my Firestick devices.

But search never gives me any results.
I tried renaming all my filenames to have _ instead of space, and no other punctuation (other than the parenthesis for the year). Still no search results...

The movies are there. I can see them, just not search for them.
And that is in the web interface and in the Plex app on the firestick...

Oh, and they all downloaded their metadata fine... Just no search results..

Thoughts?

Locating Plex plugin folder on seagate personal cloud?

Hello,
I have successfully installed plex on my personal cloud, however, I cant seem to locate any of its installed files in the ftp or file system at all. Does anyone know how to access these files so I can locate the plugin folder?

Transcoded WMA files skip once 1 second into each track.

Pretty straightforward. I'm pretty sure it's happening on files transcoding from WMA to MP3. I'm on 1.9.7.4460 on Windows 10. This seems to happen whether I'm local or remote. Is this expected when transcoding? I have so much WMA music from way back, it would take forever to properly convert...

I am able to type the direct Plex server connection into a browser (192.....with the port 32400) but I get an error code 401 when I try to do it on the iPad app. What gives?

Seagate Personal Cloud can't find Plex

I have bought a Seagate Personal Cloud 2 bay and I managed to install and run Plex on it from the beginning. It was quite a hard time to configure it, but I managed to do it by installing it manually.
The setup was stable and running for about two weeks - and I was happy!

Unfortunately it stopped working a couple of days ago. I have a theory that it has to do with the new firmware on the Personal Cloud. My NAS is now - finally - up and running again, but Plex isn't. I have tried to install and installed both the native Plex and latest Plex software from Plex.tv, but nothing works. When I hit the Plex icon a new webpage opens, and nothing happens. Its just blank for about forever, and nothing happens. I have tried both Safari, Explore and Chrome. Nothing works. I have tried to reboot the NAS several times. Nothing happens.

Can anyone help?? Seagate won't help - they just refers to Plex. And Plex can't be contacted, SO now its up to you guys! Please help...

Library not loading

Hi,
I have recently installed the latest Plex app onto my seagate and connected to my account. The drive is seen and all look correct, but when i try and load the library i get a error saying cannot save.

Any tips

While watching anything it shows Buffering in center

While trying to watch any video on plex after updating to the newest version it shows Buffering in the center of the screen ,while the movie or tv show is playing.. how can i remove this?

Hi All

I really could do with some help. I had to restore my Seagate Personal Cloud 5TB and plex stopped working.
I then realised music had moved to another folder under a Recovery directory.
I then moved all the music back under Public\Music and reinstalled the Plex Media Server App nto the NAS device.

I now am trying to add the music library back but it keeps telling me "Your Changes Could Not be Saved."

I am attaching a screenshot and the logs. Need help please as I am really not technical at all

Plex wont save file locations or allow access to settings

Im using
Plex Media Server
Running
Version 1.8.1.4139-c789b3fbb

when i try to add my files it keeps saying unable to save, so i tried to go into the server settings and it states they are unavailable. I have had to reinstall this older version as the new version kept showing buffering on my screen, whenever i tried to watch anything, that being said i deleted the new version and reinstalled the older one but now it wont allow me to save my directory of videos etc, or get into the server settings to get a log. What do i do?

For some reason Plex is showing the filename or episode name during playback and never goes away, its a grey box with the name in it .i recently installed plex, so it is a new install not an update or anything... what is going on?
