Hi. I'm wondering if someone could help me out. I installed Plex Media Server onto my Seagate Personal Cloud (It had the app in the apps for it) I can access the Plex Media Server from my laptop using the IP address of my Personal Cloud and I can see all the movies are loaded and I can even play them from there -but when I try to access Plex from my TV though smartshare thing all i get is an icon with DNLA but there's nothing in the video, music or photos file. The usual Plex icon is not there. I'm pretty much at my wits end with this so any help would be greatly appreciated.
Seagate Personal Cloud and Plex Media Server question.
Seagate App manager opens incorrect IP address, i.e :10001/web/ instead of :32400/web for Plex
So basically when I open the Plex app from within the Seagate Personal Cloud app manager it always opens xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:10001/web instead of xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:32400/web which is where the Plex web interface actually is.
I can't see anything in the settings either on the Seagate or Plex side to change this, anyone any suggestions?
Plex on Roku
My Plex on Roku sees my PC, but says the server is inaccesable (unauthorized). how do I fix this?
Ability to Change Poster and Background Art in Playlists is Gone
I have a Plex Media Server on my Seagate Personal Cloud (NAS) and while it occasionally has issues, it generally works very well when accessing the library from my various devices (TVs, Roku, Android, etc).
However, I created several home video playlists and the poster and background art that I previously saved to each playlist has disappeared. Further, when I edit a playlist, there is no longer an option to change the poster and background art. There is simply a "General" option to change the name and add a decription of the playlist, but no other editing options as before.
I am using Version 1.5.2.3557 on my Personal Cloud. FYI, I also have a Plex Cloud Library and also a library on my Mac Desktop (up-to-date running El Capitan v. 10.11.6). The Playlist Background and Poster Art editing options are no longer in these libraries either.
**Have these custom art editing options been eliminated for Playlists or is there a setting that I am missing that will add these editing options back? **
Thank you to the community and Seagate for any insight that you provide.
Seagate Nas and 4K Streaming
Hey Guys,
I've been looking around for an answer to my question, but couldn't find anything relevant. Sorry if this has been asked before!
I have a Seagate NAS (Personal Cloud 3TB) and streaming through power line to a samsung ue55mu6500. The 1080p files play perfectly and i've never had a problem, but since investing in a 4k tv i've downloaded a couple of files to test how it streams 4k.
My problem is it'll play perfectly for 5 to 10 minutes, then starts buffering sporadically, only for a couple of seconds, but enough to break up I'm watching. It doesn't have any kind of pattern to the buffering either, just an annoyance as it seems to work fine then suddenly start to play up!
I'm not sure if using a roku/fire stick or apple tv 4k will help the problem and take some of the stress off the server itself?!
Any suggestions welcome
Plex does not see genre metadata
Hi there:
I am running Plex Media Server on a Seagate PersonalCloud, 4TB NAS.
I have been able to import my music to a library. Artists, track titles and albums are properly indexed. However, the genre tags are only partially recognized. Why is that?
Here is an example from MusizBrainz. The band James is indexed with the genre Brit Pop and it is all .mp3 files. the band Echo & the Bunnymen is not indexed with any genre in PlexMedia, but in MusicBrainz, it is. It is made up of .m4a files.
Currently, the option "use embedded media tags" is checked , the library agent is "personal media artists" . Also: under "servers > Agents > Artists" "Local media - artists" is checked and prioritized first. Can any one provide any advice?
Using my Itunes and Vudu movies on Plex server
Greetings,
I've poke around and I think i know the answer to my question but i'm looking to get my Itunes purchased movies and my purchased Vudu movies onto my seagate PC / Plex server so i can watch them via Fire TV on my TV. I know how to get the itunes files to where they need to be, but they won't play (i suspect due to DRM) however the Vudu to go app has a download feature but the files are not in any known format to use with out the vudu to go app.
I think the answer is I can't, with out stripping DRM from Itunes movies (been unsuccessful so fare using Aimersoft Video Converter Ultimate and tried Pavtube ChewTune, both paid for software.)
I'm going to guess Itunes and Vudu need an app to run on the NAS/Plex server for this to work unless someone has found a work around, besides buying apple tv and vudu tv. I like my Fire TV and adding more freaking devices is just a PITA. I have no issues with plex running the music, DRM stripped easily, but the videos (which is what i wanted the most) i can not get to work.
Any creative ideas or other known apps that would work on seagate personal cloud and or Plex server running on it?
Thanks
Boss
Plex Media Server app constantly "busy"
I've been working with my Seagate Personal Cloud to get it ready for a trip we're taking soon. This morning, the app reports that it's busy (and been like that for a while) and there seems to be no way to restart or quit the app. I tried to reinstall the app (which it reported was successful) but when I started the app, it goes straight to busy. Seagate support has been no help on stuck apps. Ideas, anyone? Thanks in advance.
Adding a Library
Just installed my new seagate personal cloud and the Plex server. Unfortunately any time I select a folder on the server it says "Your changes could not be saved." What am I missing? What do you need to know to help me find an answer?
Plex no longer adding metadata for Movies
I am having issues with Plex not adding metadata for new movies now. Nothing has changed recently except I've added a large Music library, not sure if that could have caused anything. Here is what it looks like when I try to manually match a movie. The Agent dropdown doesn't load and Automatch dropdown is empty also. Not sure what to do. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
Tappin discontinued
Hi,
was wondering if someone could give me some advice. Seagate has discontinued Tappin and can no longer remote access files except through the Seagate media app. This makes using Plex remotely impossible now.
Can anyone suggest a relatively cheap NAS drive ? One that will hopefully continue remote access .
I use plex a lot on the go and would like to keep using it that way.

"There are no items in this library"
Several new albums that are in my library and "Smart Copied" to my Seagate Personal Cloud Plex Server result in a "there is no items in this library" when I try to play them. They are accessible through other sources so I know that the files are not corrupted. Anyone able to tell me why I can't access them? Thanks in advance!
Add library
Dear,
I want to use my newly acquired Seagate NAS as my plex server. The problem I'm seeing now is that I'm not able to add a Movie nor TV-show library. The other libraries like music, photos and other videos work. Can you please let me know how I could solve this problem ?
Thank you so much,
Jan

D4 port forwarding
Has anyone successfully created a port forward to be able to use plex outside your home network and have it work with a amplifi router. I have created a port forward. I have used 32400 as the one for Plex
.
Any help would be much appreciated
Backup Seagate Personal Cloud
I am running a 3TB Seagate Personal Cloud NAS with PLEX Server for more than a year, the server is not very powerful but is working OK for my needs. Last month i bought a second Seagate Personal Cloud unit, the new device is working and all files are synced correctly.
Plex server is running on both devices, but i can not backup the Plex library from one device to make a copy on the second (backup) unit. All video and music files are copied to the second device in the same folder structure, i only need to copy and update periodically the Plex database.
Anyone knows how to access the Plex library database to make a backup in the Seagate Personal Cloud.
I ask the Seagate support about how to access the device with SSH, by they did not help, and tell me that Plex app is from a third party and so they can not help me. I only want a way to access to the NAS root files, but Seagate support did not help with that.
Regards.
