PMS on seagate NAS - Movies folder on Popcorn hour A400

Hi,
As explained in the title, I've got a popcorn hour A400 in which I've put my movies. SMB service is enabled. The access to the folder 'smb://192.168.1.222/share/videos/' with my iMac works fine.
I'd like to add the folder to the PMS on my Seagate NAS.
I've tried several possibilities ('smb://192.168.1.222/share/videos/', \192.168.1.222\share\videos), but it didn't work :-/
Thanks for helping me.
Fred ;-)

Cannot open rbw file that is an update from plex

I don't have the program to open a rbw file that plex sent as an update. I need to know how to open it and what program I need to open it with. If you don't have a correct answer, do not apply an off the wall commentary about not knowing anything about this subject.

How to manually install App updates into Seagate Personal Cloud (Home Media Storage)

Go online and open up your Seagate Account and or log in. You should be in the Home page, if not, click on home page in upper left part of screen with triangular arrow that is pointing down, within list, select "Home." Home page will open and then select (APP MANAGER). Then, Scroll to bottom left and select (ADVANCED). From there, if the (Manual Install Mode) is turned off, switch in on. After doing so, scroll back up to (My Apps) and select it. Your list of installed apps will appear. Above the first app listed in the right hand corner is a (Manual Install) button, push it. A box will open and then hit (Select File) and the (File Upload) box will open. From there you select the update file you downloaded from any sight you downloaded it from, let's say (PLEX). After selecting file, hit the open button in the (File Upload) box you are still in then you will be taken back to Manual Install box. Your file will be listed in a small rectangular box above the red lettering's. Select the agreement next to the red lettering's. Then click install button. Walla! You are done. Allow the upload to do it's stuff. You are finished.

remote access disables on it's own

Hello all : )
I'm not the most tech-literate, so I apologize in advance, but I'd love if any of you could help...

My setup is a Seagate Personal Cloud, running the most recent plex server, connected to a Google Fiber network box. I've got a reserved IP address set up on my router. I've got remote access configured for streaming while away from home, but for whatever reason, at random my remote access will drop and say the server isn't reachable outside the network. If I disable and then immediately reenable it, it works fine. Sometimes it's 3 days later, sometimes a week, but it keeps happening. Never had the problem on any previous version of the server, but it's been pretty constant since the last update. Worth noting that it always happens somewhere between 2am-4am usually. Not sure why that is, but it's never during the day while I'm using it.

Anyway, any help would be greatly appreciated. I've checked out the general Remote Access troubleshooting, and none of the items (that were within my admittedly limited comprehension) seemed to resolve it.

THANKS!

I am pondering to purchase a seagate personal cloud device and install Plex server and stream it to my Samsung TV. Can I get some feedback on your experience regarding stream quality, NAS noise and handling of HD content?

Thanks

I am attempting to install the Plex Media Server on my Segate Personal Cloud through the App Manager.

I am able to successfully install the app but I am unable to access the website.

When I click on the Plex Media Server link on the personal cloud web page it brings me to the following url: http://personalcloud:32400/web

The page shows the following error: This webpage is not available ERR_CONNECTION_RESET

I have verified that the App is running in the App Manager.

I have attempted to install and uninstall the application multiple times and so far have been unsuccessful opening the website.

I have tried Chrome and IE on my laptop and Chrome and Sfari on my phone.

Any help would be great on how to fix this!

Installed Plex on Seagate Personal Cloud, but cannot get to server menu for adding folders/files

I'm not very tech savvy, so please go easy on me.
When I read about Plex a few weeks ago I loved the idea. I cut the cord a few years ago and have two Roku's.
I installed Plex on my PC and really loved it, but hated having to leave my PC on in order to use it. I bought a Seagate Personal Cloud and was able to install Plex onto the Seagate, but i have been unable to access the Plex menu to point Plex towards the media files on the Seagate. When I click on the Plex icon, it brings up a page stating "Unable to Connect".
How I am attempting to get to the Plex Server is going to my Seagate account, My Apps/App Manager menu and clicking on the Plex icon (similar to what I did when I had it on my PC). Another tab opens up and I get the error message.
I would really love to get this up and running, but I've come to the end of my ability to try to figure this one out.
Any help you can give me is greatly appreciated.

Can't play anything - Tivo, Roku, PC, Tablet, Phone

New to Plex. I have a large personal movie and TV collection, at varying quality levels. I know that transcoding is quite CPU intensive, but I am running into some issues here. First, nothing will play. And by nothing, I mean that through anything through Plex. It attempts to transcode everything on the server (roughly 2.6 TB). From my 14,000bps mkv's (it won't work, I get it, I will transcode it through handbrake later) to my 768bps 480p stereo audio TV shows. It always attempts to transcode. All are in MP4 wrappers (excluding the mkv's that I know are too intensive).

Now, these are files I have played on every smartphone (Samsung Nexus) and tablet (Kindle Fire original). What is the deal? What am I doing wrong? Will Plex just have to have the file in a very specific format to play?

PS3 Plex App - Audio but no video

Hi guys,

I have decided recently that I'd like to convert all my video files to MP4 so they can be played via the PlayStation Plex apps directly through my new Seagate Personal Cloud.

I'm using the fantastic Handbrake encoder. Apart from tremendous recoding times, it's been working well. Video plays better and faster now via PC, iPhone 6 and PS4. I have 2 PS3s that are used purely to run Plex.

And the PS3s are where my perfect home system is falling down. Video and audio are playing perfect on PS4, iPhone and PC, but only audio plays on both PS3s, with black screens where video should be.

I'm using standard "Normal" encoding settings on Handbrake, h.246 4.0 with framerate kept same as original file, AAC audio.

Video files work brilliant on PS4, why is the PS3 not playing video with the audio?

Marking something as watched crashes the server

Hi,

I'm having a few issues with the most recent update of Plex media server on my Seagate Personalcloud. When I installed the new update, I had to reinstall the whole server to get it to work. Now whenever I mark anything as watched, it crashes the whole server (the server is no longer accessible for any of my devices) and I have to reinstall again.

On a side note, I've installed the update but Plex is still telling me that there is an update available!

Has anybody else suffered these issues? Is anyone aware of a solution? Thanks.

Why an Error message when streaming to TV?

When loading a movie file onto my Samsung TV via the app the " Check your internet connection " is displayed via the Homeplug connection and will not load. Also files will not load via Apple TV 3. The files start to buffer then goes back to the Plex Movie screen over wireless connection. Can load and watch movies via the Seagate app on the TV. Streaming is fine to my iPhone and iPad via Wi-Fi!. This is frustrating as i paid for a lifetime subscription when a free app seems to work but the paid for app does not!.

I installed the latest auto update for personal cloud last night. Now it the server stops working frequently. We tried to watch a film last night and it died four times in the first 45 minutes of the film.

I need to stop and start the app on the personal cloud to get it running again. I also see instability when I just click on the server on the personal cloud home screen, it open a page that says the server is unavailable until I restart it again.

Media not working -> This server is not powerful enough to convert video.

MP4 works great, but webm or avi files wont work. The media are listed, including names, length and preview picture. It just won't play.

Trying to play the media results in an error message:
"This server is not powerful enough to convert video."

Guess my 2bay Seagate NAS isn't powerful enough, but why can't Plex play it the way it plays mp4 files? Any ideas?
Thanks
